Chief Suzy Tannenbaum

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome all new and returning students, faculty, staff, and guests to Oregon State University and would like to assure you that the Department of Public Safety is sincerely committed to making your experience here at OSU a safe and welcoming one in which you can pursue your academic, research, and career endeavors.

The Oregon State University’s Department of Public Safety is here patrolling campus 24 hours a day/7 days a week.  We are comprised of Public Safety Officers, Oregon State Police Troopers, Dispatchers, Emergency Management, Clery Management and reporting, as well as Administrative staff and civilian members who are committed to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of our OSU community. Courtesy, professionalism and respect are the foundations on which our department is built and are central to our conduct. Expertise and academic training is paramount in maintaining a high state of readiness, therefore, we will continue to develop new strategies and programs to enhance the safety of the OSU community in a world of continuous change.

I do want to enlist your help in keeping Oregon State University the safe and secure campus it has always been.  The responsibility for crime prevention is one that we all share.  Please, if you witness suspicious or criminal activity on or near campus, report it immediately to our DPS dispatch center at 541-737-3010.  Together, you and Oregon State University Department of Public Safety can make Oregon State University a safer place to be.

We ask that you acquaint yourself with the rules and regulations of the campus, the OSU Emergency Operations Plan, and if you so choose, make sure that you add your loved ones and/or significant others to your RAVE alert account so they can receive any emergency alerts or timely warnings.

On behalf of the men and women of our agency, we are delighted you chose to view our updated website. I invite you to take a few minutes to explore the information that has been provided. We are dedicated and passionate in providing the highest level of public safety services and promoting a safe and secure campus for our Beaver nation and guests.

We are proud of our department and we are honored to serve the students, faculty, staff, and visitors of Oregon State University.

Stay safe and Go Beavs!
